A Smizmar is the love partner in the Amphibiosan culture. It is their sould mate and one true love.
When an Amphibiosan fall in love they enter a state where there skin become more like a semi-permeable membrane, which allows the passage of genetic material - pregnacy. In this state it is not only their Smizmar who can produce their pregnacy, but in this phase they are very sensitive for whom they touch. Even though the Smizmar may not be the biological parent of the babies the Smizmar, in the Amphibiosan culture will always be viewed on as the parent of the babies, because they were the ones who inspired the feelings of love.
