Sílvio Benedito Guimarães Navas (March 15, 1942 - July 29, 2016) was a Brazilian actor, voice actor and dubbing director. He provided the Brazilian Portuguese voices of many characters in films and cartoons, especially Mumm-Ra in ThunderCats.
He is also known for voicing Darth Vader in the original dubbing of the Star Wars trilogy and lent his voice to the winning actors Carlo Pedersoli, Humphrey Bogart, Ernest Borgnine, Kirk Douglas, Walter Matthau, Charles Bronson, Anthony Quinn, Charlie Chaplin, Fred Astaire, Marlon Brando, John Goodman, Joe Pesci, James Earl Jones, Robert Duvall, Jason Robards, Peter Sellers, Jack Lemmon, Emmett Walsh and Edward G. Robinson.
His voice was one of the most versatile of Brazilian dubbing, as he has four or more different types of voices, from the fanatic to his famous deep voices.
In the Brazilian Portuguese-Language version of Futurama, he voiced Bender Bending Rodríguez from Seasons 3-4 taking over after the death of Aldo César and being replaced by Wellington Lima in Season 5.
In 2012, he suffered a horrible accident, breaking his femur. He was admitted to hospital, however the surgery was botched. Two years later, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease which caused him to retire from acting. He died on July 29th 2016 during his second femur surgery at the age of 74.
