David X. Cohen

David X. Cohen (born July 13, 1966) is an American television writer who has a B.A. in physics from Harvard and an M.S. in computer science from the University of California, Berkeley. Cohen is the head writer and executive producer of Futurama. He helped to develop the series with Matt Groening. Both of his parents are biologists, which helped him write such episodes as "The Deep South"[1]


Cohen is also a capable video game programmer. In the 1970's he created an Apple II video game, Qix, of which he is quite proud. He is also credited with coming up with the name for Planet Express's doctor. He created an Apple II video game named Zoid in the 1970s. He liked the name so much he named the doctor Zoidberg.[2]
