3000 is a year in which Futurama is set. It is an exceptional common year starting on Wednesday of the Gregorian calendar and the final year of the 30th century and the first year of the 31st century and the 3rd millennium. This is actually the last year of the 30th century and the 3rd millennium because the year 0 never existed. So, the 30th century spans from 1 January, 2901 to December 31, 3000 instead of 2900 to 2999.

Fry enrolls in Mars University only to drop out shortly thereafter.
The Planet Express crew visit the Slurm Factory on Wormulon.
Fry discovers his old girlfriend, Michelle, had frozen herself at Applied Cryogenics and they start dating again.
Zapp and Kif are discharged from DOOP and go to work at Planet Express.
Fry celebrates his first 31st century Xmas.
It is not a century leap year. The next century leap year would be 3200.
